Dinner and a movie? A new component of Crested Butte Restaurant Week is a film screening benefitting local foods advocacy group the Mountain Roots Food Project. FRESH is a film that celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are bodly re-inventing our food system with sustainable agriculture initiatives. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet. FRESH is screening at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts on June 9 at 6 p.m. as a part of Crested Butte Restaurant Week. Doors open at 5:30 and film-goers are encouraged to come early and enojy hors d’ hoeuvres made from fresh, local ingredients. Tickets are $8 at the door.
