Good morning, my friends. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Monday, March 23, 2009. We are reporting one inch of new snow on the hill this morning, with more on the way. It is currently cloudy and snowing and 21 degrees. Forecasters see high chances of snow all week long, so bring out your powder skills and gear- this IS that spring snow we've been anxiously awaiting. You'll be skiing and riding a base of 55 inches today and you'll need your goggles with the snow that will continue to fall all day long.
Just a heads up for all you skiers and riders out there- the following lifts will be closed for the remainder of the 2009 season: Peachtree, the Mountain School Lift, Prospect and Teocali. We now have 11 lifts up and running to get you to the plethora of trails you'll be skiing and riding today. Also, Third Bowl will also be closed for the rest of this season. That said, here are the stats for the first day of the work week. 92% of our terrain is still open, including 89% of our beginner terrain, 100% of advanced terrain and 92% of the infamous extreme terrain. There are a total of 1155 acres open, 99 trails available; 426 acres and 72 trails are groomed, and our grooming team has chosen Paradise Bowl as groomer's choice today. It may be a Manic Monday for most of us, but it is sure to be snow-fabulous as well.
There are just about two weeks left in our season here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and we've got the deals that can get you here. The Buy 2, Get 2 Special invites you to book two nights at the luxurious slopeside Elevation Hotel and two days of lift tickets and we'll throw in an additional two nights and two days of skiing for FREE. Or how about the chance to stay at any CBMR Properties condominium, within minutes of the base area, for under $93 per person per night. Families love the Kids Ski Free package- stay at any CBMR Properties condominium and children between 7 and 12 can ski for free. I kid you not. Take advantage of our late season lodging and lift ticket packages within the next two weeks and create a vacation to remember. Call Crested Butte Vacations to get the details and book your reservations at 1-800-810-7669.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a groomer, pushing and moving snow to create "Colorado's Best Corduroy" and our terrain parks? Now is your chance. Crested Butte Mountain Resort, in conjunction with Prinoth, has launched the Snowcat Driving Experience. Participants learn the basics of driving snowcats, grooming, pushing snow, and experiencing the mountain as one of the most interesting employees at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Students receive initial classroom time for safety and operational instruction then get out on the course to maximize the driving time. Sounds great, right? To book your Snowcat Driving Experience, call or visit the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square at 970-349-4554.
Have a great day everybody- I'll see you on the hill.
