Good Morning all you skiers and riders out there! Are you in the mood for some powder skiing this morning? Well I hope you are because we received another 11 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours bringing the total snowfall for the season up to 298 inches!
Today's temperatures will reach the lower twenties and you can expect similar temperatures throughout the weekend. We've got a thirty percent chance of snow tomorrow with mostly sunny skies expected on Sunday. The wind today will be out of the north blowing at about 10 mph and the conditions on the Mountain will be Powder! If it's groomers you are looking for, don't worry because we've got 480 acres of "Colorado's Best Corduroy" right here for you to enjoy! Be sure to take a run down Jokerville because it is our groomer's choice for today!
Never skied powder before? Well call Up CB Mountain Schools this morning and sign yourself up for a ski or snowboard lesson. Let their talented and professional instructors teach you how to properly carve it up on this beautiful snowy morning! They'll teach you all you need to know to navigate your way down the powdery slopes with style. CB Mountain Schools can be reached at 970 349-2252 .
In other fun news, Crested Butte Mountain Resort and the Red Lady Coalition have joined together to protect Mt. Emmons from a potential mining operation. This Saturday, February 9, 2008, Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and other specials guests will take to the Butte 66 stage to help save Red Lady. These musicians are here as part of the production for the next Warren Miller Entertainment film. This après ski event will also double as the wrap up party for the Crested Butte film production segment. Admission is $10 and the doors will open at 4:00 pm. One raffle ticket is included with each admission and additional raffle tickets will be available. Raffle prizes include a Fender Bass Guitar, Nordica Supercharger Skis and a CBMR Platinum Season Pass good for the rest of the 07/08 season and the entire 08/09 season. The raffle will take place at 5:30pm and you must be present to win.
All proceeds from the door and the raffle will be donated to the Red Lady Coalition for their plight to stop the Lucky Jack Mine Project which is proposing a molybdenum mine on Mt. Emmons. Red Lady is the informal name for the mountain and the bowl located at the top of the mountain often marked with ski tracks visible from town.
It's shaping up to be a fantastic weekend! Get out there and have a great time today! Enjoy this wonderful bounty that Mother Nature had blessed us with! Have a good one and we'll see you on the slopes!
