Happy powder day, Crested Butte Mountain Resort! Today is Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 and another powderlicious day! An incredible 8 inches of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours, 16 inches has fallen in the past 48 hours and a whopping 36 inches, (that's 3 feet) has come down in the past 7 days!! The 62 inches of total snowfall so far this year has helped create a sensational 35 inch base. There are 360 skiable acres open, 292 of which are groomed, so whether it's the wonderful corduroy you're after or the powder you're itching for, we've got it all for you today! Six lifts are running today, (including the West Wall Lift, which opens today) leading to 55 sensational trails open for your skiing and riding pleasure. Things are only getting better! Not only is it still snowing right now, but more snow is expected to fall through Saturday, while temperatures will remain in the mid 20's throughout the rest of the week. No need to dream of a white Christmas because it's a reality here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. On top of fantastic conditions, don't forget that TODAY is the last day of half price lift tickets. Crested Butte pass and card holders can purchase half price lift tickets to get in some early skiing without using days on their pass. Bring a friend, and we'll extend the offer to them as well. It's a powder day in the middle of December...pack four or more in your car to park for free, or hop on the bus and drop into the ticket office to take advantage of this great deal. On December 19th, Rock on Ice begins where World Champion ice carvers create art sculptures to the beat of rock n' roll music.
