Good morning skiers and riders! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Thursday, December 18,2008. You'll like the stats this morning. We've received five inches of new snow on the mountain in the last 24 hours, 13 inches in the last 48 hours and a storm total that just won't quit- 41 inches in the last 7 days. For you all mathematicians out there, that's almost 3.5 feet of snow in the last week!

Not only are we strengthening and packing down our 36 inch natural snow base, but we've also been able to open 7 lifts and provide for you a total of 390 accessible acres. We have 58 trails to choose from and 322 acres of groomed terrain. With 62% of our total terrain open right now, and the Painter Boy Lift slated to open tomorrow, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is proving, once again, there's no better place to be than right here in the Gunnison National Forest.

Right now,the temperature is 19 degrees with some gusty winds here and there. Be sure to wear your face mask as you get out to shred the gnar today. We're expecting 100% chance of snow throughout the day and snow showers tomorrow. Saturday is looking like a perfect bluebird day and then we will move into next week with our favorite forecast- more snow.

If you're ready to make your way to the Butte, call Crested Butte Vacations, our official central reservation service, at 1-800-810-7669. Crowd involvement is a must, so bring your family and friends and get ready to “Rock on Ice”!

Also this weekend, Crested Butte Mountain Resort will be kicking off the new DC Southwest Series. Come out to see the elites demonstrate alpine snowboarding. Riders will be hitting the slopes to compete in slalom and grand slalom. This new series is open to all amateur riders; men and women. The top riders from the DC Southwest Series will qualify to compete in the USASA National Championships. For more information call 970.349.2217.
