Good morning and Merry Christmas! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Christmas Day, 2008. Our dear friend, Santa, delivered 4 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, and 10 inches in the last 48 hours, bringing our most recent snow storm total to 46 inches. Our natural snow depth at the top of the mountain is 48 inches, and our new season total is a whopping 113 inches. All this snow, and it's only December! What more could you have asked for this Christmas? We're expecting more snow today and tomorrow, and we should see a little more sunshine over the weekend. Thanks go out to Mother Nature, the groomers, snow makers and ski patrol at Crested Butte Mountain Resort because 97% of the mountain is now open in 718 acres of skiing and riding terrain, 481 of which are groomed. Whether you enjoy cruising on Colorado's Best Corduroy, or you're looking for your piece of the powder stash, you'll find it today at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. 13 out of 16 lifts are running quickly and smoothly, giving you access to 84 impressive trails. I am also glad to announce that today we will be opening the Kids Terrain Park on Painter Boy- our Christmas gift to all those little groms and shredders out there! Also, check out the progress our snowmakers and groomers are making on the Canaan Terrain Park- the Superpipe is in progress and we'll have it up and running in no time! While making some great turns in the fantastic powder, feel free to take a break at one of the many eateries located both on and off the mountain. In fact, why not start out your Christmas Day on the right ski with breakfast at the Woodstone Grill in The Grand Lodge. I love their buffet and they have great menu items as well, as well as plenty of seating. For lunch, you could hit up Butte 66 for some legendary BBQ, or make a quick pit stop at Paradise Warming House and enjoy their tried and true chili in a bread bowl. For finer palletes, I suggest the two best finer dining restaurants- the new 9380 located in The Elevation Hotel and the infamous Ice Bar up on the mountain. There are a plethora of places to stop and satisfy your tastebuds, no matter what you may be looking for. Get out there and celebrate Christmas with all the Who's at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
