Announcements
Good morning and good day! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Sunday, December 28, 2008. We've received 4 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, 10 inches in the last 48 hours and a total of 53 inches, (that's over four feet), in just the last seven days. These latest weather conditions have brought our season snowfall total to 136 inches and provided for us a perfect base depth of 53 inches. We now have 14 of 16 lifts shuttling skiers and riders up to 84 open trails and a total of 718 accessible acres. As of right now, 97% of the main mountain is open, with 100% of our beginner and intermediate terrain, and 76% of our advanced terrain. Groomers Choice this morning is Upper Keystone.

As you move around the mountain today, you will see Ski Patrol and snowpackers working diligently to test and ready new terrain- they make it safe for all skiers and riders, and are doing a great job this season. Be sure to thank those folks in red when you see them. You will also see the snowmakers busting out snow at the Superpipe AND cutting out the Canaan Terrain Park. You get an awesome view of catdrivers at work while riding up the Paradise Lift. The mountain sure is busy in preparation for the new year that is just around the corner.

With the temps remaining in the twenties today, you might be thinking, "I wish I had worn another layer." Well, you're in luck. The base area at Crested Butte Mountain Resort is chock full of great retail stores that carry everything you're going to need while skiing or riding. Thin Air Sports is Crested Butte's newest specialty retail store featuring ski, outdoor and lifestyle apparel and shoes. Thin Air Sports has a great staff who can guide you through the equipment to support all your on and off mountain adventuresincluding technical outerwear and backcountry gear and accessories from some of the best brands in the industry. Thin Air Sports is located in Mountaineer Square across from the Avalanche Bar & Grill.

Christy's Sports is one of my favorite stores on the mountain, located right above Colorado Freeskier and next to the Bank of the West. They've got the cutest casual hats to keep your ears warm while you relax at Butte 66 or the Paradise Warming House, and windproof masks, gloves, neckwarmers and helmets to keep you up on the hill as long as you like. The Outpost Mercantile is THE place to quickly pick up other essentials you might need for the day. Stop by the Outpost, for sunscreen, goggles, sunnies, hats, Crested Butte Mountain Resort logowear, drinks and snacks.

Wherever you go on the mountain, you are sure to find friendly employees ready and willing to help you find whatever you are looking for. You'll find Guest Service representatives all over the base area, as well as on the mountain, wearing bright colored jackets and bright smiles! All of the employees at Crested Butte Mountain Resort are glad you are here and are glad to share the stoke of living and playing in this winter paradise. If you have any questions about visiting or getting around Crested Butte while you're here, call Crested Butte Vacations at 1-800-810-7669.

Santa brought me new boots, skis and bindings for Christmas, so I will definitely be one of those smiling employees on the mountain today. Have a great Sunday and I'll see you on the hill.
