Good morning! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on this fine Sunday, January 4, 2009. You'll like the stats again this morning, because we've received another 7 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, bringing this year's snow total to 144 inches. Before all the locals strap on their gear and catch the free bus to the base area, I am glad to announce that the High Lift is expected to open mid-day today. That's right folks, put your game face on because the High Lift will be opening today! We will be updating trail openings throughout the day at skicb.com, so check back often and please thank the Ski Patrol and Snow Packers for their efforts to safely make this terrain available to you.

Our base is skiing and riding very nice right now at 57 inches. We've got 15 out of 16 lifts up and running and a total of 894 acres open, 481 of which is groomed. Take your pick of 89 trails- you'll find powder and packed powder conditions throughout the accessible terrain and practically perfect conditions everywhere you turn. The Superpipe remains under construction and our terrain parks are now open, thanks to the fantastic guys and gals on our grooming and terrain park teams. Groomers Choice today is Black Eagle over on East River, so get out of bed and get to the hill already!

Looking for great activities for the kiddos? We've got them! Send the kids flying down the tubing hill between the Silver Queen and Red Lady lifts in the afternoons...stop by the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square to find out more and topurchase your tubing tickets. There's also plenty of fun for the kids happening at Camp CB! Camp CB is not only the place to learn how to ski and snowboard, it's the place where kids rule! Kids get their own trail map, and their own secret trails. Kids are also perfectly sized for the Kids Terrain Park at Painter Boy. Have your kids join our fun-loving instructors for an exciting Kids' Night Out where they can enjoy activities like tubing, movies, pizza dinner, and other fun indoor and outdoor activities. Children ages 4-12 are welcome and the cost per child is $85. Kids' Night Out takes place every week, Thursday through Saturday and can be booked by calling 970 349 2259.

Don't forget to stop by the new and improved Elevation Spa this week. I spoke to some guests yesterday who raved about their massages there, so it is already highly recommended. To get details on available services and spa treatments, visit ElevationSpa.com or call 970-349-4554.

My advice to you today...skip the trip to Gunnison and ignore your chores. Get back up on the mountain and enjoy the first Sunday of the new year. I'll see you on the hill.
