Good morning skiers, riders, locals and guests! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. A little bit of new snow goes a long way, and we've got fantastic powder/packed powder conditions today. In the last 24 hours, we've received 3 inches of new snow and a total of 6 inches in the last two days. The past seven days have dumped 19 inches of new snow on the mountain bringing our season snowfall total to 163 inches.

During the work week, we have 14 lifts up and running and 91 open trails, 74 of which are groomed by our awesome grooming team. Thanks to Ski Patrol and Snow Safety, we now have 1037 acres accessible to you and your ski buddies- 481 of which is groomed. 100% of our beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain, as well as 60% of our expert terrain, is waiting for you. Get off the phone and get on the bus; ski and riding season only lasts so long! The Superpipe is open and was cut last night; if you're not the Superpipe type, be sure to at least stop by and watch the tricks of our local and visiting talent.

Another great thing to do on the mountain is test your speed at the Smith Hill Race Course. NASTAR races are offered daily from 10:00am-3:30pm. Race your friends, and win a medal if you qualify. The Cost is $5 for 2 runs for adults (16 years and older) and $4 for kids. Take an additional run for $1 each additional run, or spend the whole day on the race course for $10 all day (adults) or $8 for the kids. There are also daily races on the public challenge course located under the Red Lady Express Lift on Smith Hill. Timed runs also available for just a dollar per run and Tuesday, (today), races are FREE. NASTAR season passes, family passes and group pricing are available; to learn more call 970-349-2328.

The current temperatures is 20 degrees and it's quite windy out there, so be sure to stop by the Outpost and pick up a convenient and effective face mask to keep your face warm and frostbite free while you fly down the trails. It's time to get some fresh air and reap the benefits you'll find only in the Gunnison Valley. This is Crested Butte Mountain Resort's Snow Betty signing off- I'll see you on the hill.
