Good morning skiers, riders and snow enthusiasts! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday, December 19, 2009. In the last week alone, we have been blanketed with 2.5 feet of snow, and with new terrain opening up for the weekend, that means powder shots for everyone. Stay tuned to hear what's opening today and tomorrow- with over 7 feet of snow having already fallen this season, the conditions on newly opened terrain is going to powder, powder, powder. Our natural snow depth is 41 inches and you'll have a total of 76 trails on 474 acres of terrain. If groomers are more your style, we have 53 groomed trails covering 390 acres and our Groomer's Choice for today is Splain's Gulch. As of today, 73% of our terrain is now accessible via 12 lifts. We are glad to report that today the WestWall, Goldlink and Prospect Lifts will also be up and running. That said, add these trails to your list to ski or ride today: Buckley, Fishbowl, Upper Championship, Middle Championship, Lower Championship, Nastar, T-Bar Road, Aspen Park Road, Gunsight Pass, Cascade, Elko Park, North Pass, Panion's Run, Deer Pass, Little Queen and Prospector. Get back out there again tomorrow, because we will be opening even more terrain and the East River Lift. The tubing hill is also expected to open on Sunday- get your tickets at the Adventure Center and bring out your kids, (or the child in you), for tubing on Red Lady Hill. At the base area today and tomorrow, you can experience Environmental Good Karma and Musical Bliss, courtesy of the 2010 IZ Style Winter Tour. This exceptional visit includes the Reverb Eco Village and the Bud Light Concert Series, winter gear demos, natural & organic food Samples, and shows by Eve 6 and Pete Kilpatrick.
