Announcements
Good morning locals and guests alike. One of the things I love most about my job as Colorado's very own Snow Betty, is the surprise on a person's face when I tell them about my job. It's before 5:30 am and I am cheerfully reporting to you everything you'll need to know for your day of skiing and riding. That said, here is the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, December 27, 2009.

We are one of the few resorts in Colorado that can boast about having 85% of our terrain already open, including 100% of our beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain. 14 of our chair lifts are now up and running, shuttling you up to a whopping 554 acres of open terrain, including 380 groomed acres. In laymen's terms, that's a total of 84 available trails, 64 of which have been groomed by our expert grooming team. Our natural snow depth is currently 38 inches and you'll be skiing and riding on a packed powder base.

As for weather, temps will reach the high teens today and we should see some snow flurries out there. There is a 30% chance of snow today, 20% tomorrow and 30% for Tuesday. We'll all be doing that snow dance we know so well, so expect to see some white stuff throughout the beginning of the week. Temperatures will get progressively warmer this week as well.

Do you ever just show up in the morning, catch one of the first lifts up the mountain and wonder how that magical curdoroy appears on some of our most popular runs? You don't have to wonder any more. Crested Butte Mountain Resort invites you to our side of creating Colorado's Best Corduroy. Participants learn the basics of driving snowcats, grooming, pushing snow, and get to experience one of the best ski resort jobs on a closed course. The school incorporates initial classroom time for safety and operational instruction then students get out on the course to maximize the driving time. There are so many unique things you can do in life-and this is surely one of them. To book your Snowcat Driving Experience call or visit the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square at 970-349-4554.

If you aren't here already, we have a deal that you will get you here. Our Friends and Family Fly Free is back this year, just when you need it the most. Book your Crested Butte vacation for three or more people today and every third airline ticket is free. Fly nonstop to the Gunnison/Crested Butte Airport (GUC) on American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Airlines from Denver, Dallas, Atlanta or Salt Lake City. No matter where you are, getting to Crested Butte is now easier than ever. To book this one of a kind package please call Crested Butte Vacations at 1-800-810-7669.

I hope everyone has a great day today; don't forget to stop in one of our fine eateries to get a hot bowl of soup and a warm cup of joe. I'll see you on the hill.
