Good morning snow bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the very snowy snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on this fine Sunday morning of January 23, 2010. The powder keeps piling up. we've had 4 inches of new snow in just the last 24 hours, 13 in the last 48 hours and a whopping 20 in the last seven days. Don't you just love January snow storms? Our total snowfall for the 2009-2010 season is now 126 inches and you'll be skiing and riding on a natural snow depth base of 47 inches at the top of the mountain and 38 inches at midway. What do all these numbers mean for our terrain? For starters, we are 85% open with 100% of our Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced terrain completely open. The Ski Patrol has been working hard to get our infamous Extreme Terrain open for you, so stay tuned for updates on that throughout the weekend. We are running 14 lifts right now, including 4 high speed quads- high winds are a factor that could temporarily close a few of these lifts during the day, so be sure to pay close attention to Ski Patrol and Lift Maintenance advisories. We have a total of 554 acres of terrain open for your skiing and riding pleasure, including 390 acres of groomed terrain. In the way of trails, we have a total of 84 open trails, 64 of which are groomed. Our Groomer's Choice for today is International, but I also recommend that you check out the new Silvanite run, which has been flattened to make way for new mid-season bumps. The weather is looking prime for the rest of the weekend. Over the next couple of days, we'll have high's in the low 20's and high chances of snow every day. The skies will be clearing on Monday and Tuesday, making way for that Colorado sunshine we know and love- and the fresh snow should make the beginning of the week absolutely unforgettable.
