Special Announcements

Announcements
Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds...this is the day of the season we've all been secretly waiting for. The Extremes open today-stay tuned for the details. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, January 24, 2010. You heard me right, folks. Ski Patrol and Snow Safety have a gift for you today- all thanks to their hard work during this most recent snow event in Crested Butte. Here is the plan.

The North Face will open today around noon. Accessible terrain will include Tower 11 Chutes, Avery, Belleview, Rachel’s, The Glades, The Glades Hike, Powder Rock Glade, Pinball, The North Face, Hawk’s Nest, Hard Slab, Old Pro, Sock-It-To-Me-Ridge and Last Steep. There will be powder shots for everyone, so be sure to behave yourselves if you decide to line up early at the North Face.

But wait, there's more. Due to this massive snowfall we're experiencing here in the Butte, the Ski Patrol and Snow Safety teams believe that they will also be opening the High Lift on Monday. You heard me right, on Monday morning the following High Lift terrain will be open: Big Chute, Paradise Cliffs, Headwall, Schofield and Upper North Star. It's time to break out the new powder skis and snowboards and put your powder face on.

Our Extreme Terrain is unmatched in the United States. And with all this new snow, the conditions are going to be profoundly powdery. Over the last 7 days, we've had 29 inches of new snow, with 8 falling in the last 24 hours and 12 in the last 48 hours. We've accumulated 3-4 inches since the lifts closed yesterday at 4 pm. Our natural snow depth is now 51" at the top and 42" at midway, and we are glowing with the total snowfall for this season rising to 134 inches.

All told, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is featuring 84 total trails today, including 64 groomed trails. This equals 732 total acres of skiing and riding terrain, all accessed by a total of 14 lifts. We've got snow in the forecast through Monday, so great job to all you snow dancers out there! Crested Butte is one powdery mountain right now!

I'm lucky to be the one to share this great news with you today...now get out there and get yourself some powder! I'll see you on the hill.
