Good morning Crested Butte Mountain Resort! Today is Thursday, February 18th, 2010 and it's looking like Mother Nature might be sending us a gift today, as there is a 70% for today and lasting through tomorrow. The temperature is looking perfect for a dumping as it is supposed to reach a comfortable 28 degrees today. The mountain has already received over 160 inches of snow, with over 5 of that falling in the past week, making the 50 inch base ski and ride better than ever! Take your pick on any of the 16 lifts that are open today, leading you to 111 trails, spread across 1144 skiable acres, 370 of which have been groomed. Although you can't go wrong on any of the 98% of the mountain that is open (including 100% of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain, as well as 98% of the extreme terrain), the groomer's recommend Crystal as their groomer's choice today. In addition to fabulous bumps, steeps and corduroy, Crested Butte Mountain also has three terrain parks, including the terrain park located on Warming House Hill, the Canaan Terrain Park and the Painter Boy Terrain Park, as well as the DC Superpipe that include a variety of features and obstacles for all levels of jibbers. So whether you're in for a day of fast cruisers or thrilling steeps, Crested Butte Mountain Resort has something out there for everyone! Don't forget, it's the 19th Annual Freeskiing Championship here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort! Males and females, the young and the masters, will be hucking their meat on some of the most extreme and challenging terrain in the World! After watching the Juniors and Masters showing their stuff yesterday, the event continues today with the males and females showing us what they are made of on their first qualifying run. The complete schedule of events is posted on the website at skicb.com. The Big Mountain Finals will take place on Saturday when the adults show us how to conquer that big mountain!
