Hey there skiers and riders! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, March 14, 2010. We have had a great season so far this year, with over 16 feet of snow falling since we opened in November. Today you will be skiing and riding on a 53" base of packed powder conditions. We are 98% open, and offer 1144 acres of accessible terrain. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is not the kind of place you stand in line for long, if at all. And we have 15 chair lifts up and running to get you to where you want to be in just a few short minutes. Be sure to take advantage of the photo opps you are sure to find today- a 360 degree perspective really makes you appreciate the uniquness of our Butte and exceptional mountain town.

Yesterday was jam-packed with activities on and off the mountain, so today would be a good time to just take it easy. Our expert grooming team has perfected Colorado's Best Corduroy and has 68 groomed trails for you to ski or ride. From our 370 acres of groomed terrain, the Groomer's have chosen Upper Keystone as their favorite today, so be sure to take the long way down to the base area. We have a 70% chance of snow today, but you will most likely get more than a few of those infamous Colorado sunshine moments. Take a deep breath, soak it all in and learn to love life in Crested Butte- I think you'll keep coming back for more.

Now that you are here in the Butte, it's time to take advantage of the unique adventures that Crested Butte Mountain Resort has to offer. Yesterday at the base area, you might have seen our Sleigh Ride parked between the Red Lady and Silver Queen Chairlifts. Our Sleighride Dinner at Uley's Cabin is a one-of-a-kind experience you can only get in Crested Butte. Ride in the open sleigh pulled by a snow cat to a cabin tucked in the woods to join Chef Leo Novak for an exceptional dinner. The menu will feature Colorado cuisine with French influences and changes on a weekly basis. Favorites include Colorado Elk, Braised Lamb Shank and Cedar Planked Salmon. A full bar and a handpicked wine list are available to complement your dining experience. Then bundle up afterwards to take the sleigh back to the base area. Sleigh Ride dinners are available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Advance reservations required are required, so if you are going to be here later this week, call 970-349-4554 to make your reservations today.

For other recommendations from locals who know the ins and outs of Crested Butte, stop by the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square. Our Mountain Concierge is available to make restaurant, entertainment and adventure recommendations for you. Whether you want to try out snowshoeing for the first time, catch some live music in town or make dinner reservations for your large party, the Mountain Concierge is at your service!

Well, that's all from me today folks. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty wishing you all the day has to offer- I'll see you on the hill.

Today, you can hop on any one of 15 lifts that will transport you around the Mountain. With 1144 acres of terrain open, you'll have plenty of runs to keep you entertained on the Hill, including 111 fun filled trails. Our hard working grooming team has buffed out 370 acres of corduroy and they have chosen International as their pick for best groomed run on the Mountain today. We've has a season total snowfall of 192 inches, giving us a fantastic 55 inch base. Skies are clear as the day breaks and the conditions on the Mountain will be packed powder!

There will be tons of action on the Hill today, that's for sure! Watch out for athletes ripping it up in the Boardercross event today! Or, keep your eyes peeled for skiers and riders in tropical dress, as participants join in the fun at the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum's, Beach Ball Express FUNdraiser. They will be hosting a ski vanger hunt as well as a raffle with great prizes and of course prizes for best individual and team costumes! Be sure and pick up a raffle ticket for a chance to win some of those fabulous prizes!

Thanks to the crew at the Colorado Freeskier, Big Air on Elk is also returning this year and will take place on Elk Avenue in Crested Butte tonight between 5 and 10 p.m. Main street will be transformed into a terrain style kicker that skiers and boarders will be towed into by snowmobiles. You won't want to miss this exciting event!

With great skiing and riding conditions and fun events happening this weekend, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is where you want to be! Have a Great Day and I'll see you on the slopes!
