Special Announcements
We are in the midst of a Telemark Extravaganza this weekend. Today is the final day of the 14th Annual Telemark Extremes here in Crested Butte- and free heelers have been waiting for this weekend all season long. This two-day big mountain event attracts the biggest names in the telemark industry and is unique to Crested Butte. Things should kick off around 9:30 this morning and the venue will be posted at the Silver Queen Chair Lift. Take a few minutes out of your day to see some fantabulous free-heeling at today's venue, and be sure to bring your noise makers! Also, thanks to the folks at skiresorts.com, we'll be featuring an exclusive live broadcast from the event throughout the weekend- just visit skicb.com and click on Telemark Extremes to see the event in real time, including interviews with some of the best tele skiers in the industry.

This weekend also marks the 36th Annual Al Johnson Uphill/Downhill Telemark Ski Race. You can pre-register at the Alpineer before tomorrow, and day-of registration at the Brick begins at 8 am and ends promptly at 9:30 am. The Tag Team Fun Race begins at noon, and will be followed by the Men & Women's Individual Race beginning at 1 pm. Now, if you've never witnessed the AJ, as locals lovingly refer to it, you absolutely must get out and see what the fuss is about. Crested Butte's finest, most talented, and best-dressed skiers get all dolled up in whacky costumes and race up the North Face and back down double black diamond terrain. It is a scene, to say the least, and it shouldn't be missed.

Announcements
Good morning snow bunnies and powder hounds! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Just in time for the big Telemark Weekend, the snow goddesses decide to smile on us once again. In the last 24 hours, we've had 5 inches of snow and the groomers have estimated that one inch fell after the lifts closed yesterday. The Superpipe got a fresh cut overnight, so all you groms should be out there today showing off the new and improved tricks you've been working on this season.

Today you'll be skiing and riding on 56" at the top and 44" at midway and conditions vary from powder to packed powder. You can ride any one of our 16 lifts to get up to over 1100 acres of accessible terrain here in Crested Butte. Bring your camera along and take advantage of countless photo-ready vistas that you will never forget. We feature 111 open trails, including 69 groomed trails and the Groomer's Choice today, Jokerville. This morning skies were clear but becoming cloudy, so there is a slight possibility we might see a little more snow by the time the lifts start running at 9 am. Throughout the day, skies are expected to be clear and sunny- don't forget your sunscreen! Winds should be calm, but you might get a couple of gusts at the top of the mountain- so layer up folks! The high for today is expected to be in the mid-twenties, and things should be warming up throughout this first week of spring.

At this point, we are counting down the days until the end of the season. Everyone should be up on the hill, and if you're not even in Crested Butte, it's time to call and make your reservations today. The folks at Crested Butte Vacations can help you do just that-call them at 1-800-810-7669 to see what travel, lodging and lift ticket package fits your desires, then come see us in the Butte.

This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty signing off- I'll see you on the hill all weekend long!
