Fresh snow on the ground and partly sunny skies above make it the perfect start to another amazing weekend here at Crested Butte Mountain Resort on this Saturday, March 8, 2014! Mother Nature generously dropped another 3 inches of the fresh stuff on our hill in the last 24 hours, which brings us to 4 inches in the last 48 hours and 17 inches in the last 7 days. Make sure you grab the sunscreen as you head on out the door to catch a ride on the 14 lifts spinning today to serve up 1,167 acres of ripping terrain. Powder is sure to be found on all 120 diverse trails now available and skill levels of every kind will find challenging fun as 100% of our magnificent mountain is open for shredding. If smooth corduroy turns are what you seek, then 59 superbly groomed trails are available for your pleasure, with Ruby Chief listed as the Groomer’s top pick run of the day!

Once again, it is time to watch one of the most anticipated events of the season, as Big Air on Elk returns to Crested Butte! Be a witness to the transformation of Elk Avenue in to a full on huck fest as contestants are pulled by snowmobiles and launched off of a huge kicker right in the center of town. Enormous air, sick bird tricks, and, the not so rare, wipeout are sure to entertain! The fun starts at 5pm tonight!

Just because the lifts close doesn’t mean the good times end! Enjoy some apres ski fun at the Butte 66 where you can toast the day’s achievements or follies over your favorite beverages. Getting hungry? Stay for dinner and enjoy a roadhouse menu complete with burgers and shakes. The perfect way to end a perfect day on the slopes!

It’s going to be another beautiful day in paradise, so I’m out the door to soak it all in! See you on the hill!
