Announcements
Good morning everyone! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. The skiing and riding is still excellent in Crested Butte right now, with powder and packed powder conditions on the 102 trails that are accessed by 12 chair lifts. We have 1100 acres open today, with 97% of our Beginner and Intermediate Terrain, 100% of our Advanced Terrain and 98% of our Extremes. Yesterday, my favorite run was on the Headwall, and for you today it might just be the Groomer's Choice, International. There are 53 trails of Colorado's Best Corduroy, which is groomed to perfection by our expert grooming team.

The weather for the next couple of days is looking pretty variable. Today, we could see some high winds up on the mountain, and temps will be very spring-like with a high of 48. There is a slight chance of snow for tomorrow, and a 70% chance of snow for Thursday and Friday, so we might have some fresh powder to ski and ride for closing weekend. Really, folks, what more could you ask for at Crested Butte Mountain Resort?

HOW ABOUT SLUSH HUCK?!

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is pleased to wrap up another successful winter ski season with festivities and the traditional crowd pleasing Pond Skimming on Saturday, April 3rd. Registration for Pond Skimming is from 2:00 – 2:45pm at the base of the Red Lady Express Lift. Cost is $20 and gets you as many runs as you can hang for as the field gets increasingly narrowed. The Pond Skimming begins at 3:00pm in front of a team of judges and announcers looking first and foremost for competitors who clear the pond upright with bonus points given for style and costume. Slush Huck is fun for participants and audience members, so I suggest you show up with your cow bells and blow horns. Slush Huck is sure to be a good time.

Flauschink is the last big event of the winter season. The entire town will begin their spring celebration at the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum with a reception highlighting the updated Flauschink exhibit on Wednesday, March 31, 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided, and, as usual, there is no cost to attend. The Museum is also selling Flauschink buttons, and these are your golden tickets to the other Flauschink events Thursday- Saturday. Pick up a local paper to learn more, but don't miss out on this flushing out of winter and welcoming of spring.

Six days and counting, folks. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty wishing you the best- I'll see you on the hill.
