Happy New Year Crested Butte! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday, January 1, 2011. This weekend, the mountain is going to be super fun, with 100% of our beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain as well as 60% of our infamous Extremes. With a grand total of 100 trails to choose from, and 16 lifts to get you there, this Saturday will not disappoint! Those 100 trails are spread out over 1036 acres, and include 450 acres of perfectly groomed terrain. Our Groomer's Choice for today is Paradise Bowl.

In the last three days, we have received 17 inches of snow, giving us a superb product on the mountain. Skiers and riders are digging the powder and packed powder conditions and our 63 inch base. Today we are expecting snowshowers throughout the day with very chilly temperatures, so be sure to bundle up and cover up. Sunday and Monday we will see sunshine again here in the Butte, and that should definitely warm things up again.

Make New Year's Day in the Butte memorable with a photo from Ridgeline Images. These on-mountain photographers can be found at the top of the Silver Queen, Red Lady and Painter Boy Lifts or at their office in the Axtel Building just behind the Silver Queen Lift. Ridgeline offers group and individual photos with our pristine, high country as the back drop and they also offer action shots by appointment. The best thing about Ridgeline Images is that you can view and order your professional images online and have them delivered to your home. Call 970-778-1848 to schedule for your action shot or learn more about our on-mountain memory maker!

Looking for a place to gather your group for lunch but don't want to stray too far from the mountain? How about a pizza pie from SPELLBOUND PIZZA Company? Make your way to the third level of the Treasury Building and saddle up with your buds for a quick and relaxing lunch. (Don't worry there's an elevator for all of you who avoid stairs with your ski boots on!) Paradise Warming House is another great on-mountain lunch spot that can easily accomodate a large family or church group. Cafeteria-style dining makes it easy for everyone to get what they want and with a couple of registers and a great Warming House staff, your lunch in Paradise will get you back out on the hill in a jiffy.

That's all from me today folks. Have a great first day of the year and I'll see you on the hill.
