Announcements
Good morning on this chilly Thursday, January 13th 2011. This is your Snow Betty trying to stay warm and play in our 201 inches of snowfall this season! Even with some snow today and a high of 31*F there still is a bite to the air but things seem to be warming up finally.

Kudos to our Patrol Team who added 3rd Bowl and the rest of the West Side to the list of open terrain. That brings us to 100% across the board with 105 trails open, enough for everyone of all skills to play in the pow-pow. Twister and Pine lifts are still closed until tomorrow, leaving you with 14 other lifts to chose from, including our two high-speed quads giving you more time to ski and less time to sit.

CB Salutes, Crested Butte's very own Military Appreciation Week starts today and will have a welcoming event open to the public to honor and pay tribute to our men and women fighting for our country. Stop by 9380 Restaurant between 4pm and 8pm to give your thanks to these brave souls.

For all those kiddies out there, stop by the Trailhead Museum located in the Outpost Building at the base area. The Trailhead has hands on art and science stations among its toys and puppets for all ages. There are special programs each week so call 970-349-7160 and head over for some indoor fun.

Snowcat skiing is back at Irwin, located 12 miles from the town of Crested Butte. CS Irwin operates two custom snowcats to transport 10 guests a day in comfort and style, being picked up and dropped off in the same day right in town. Upon reaching the restored Movie Cabin in Irwin guests transfer to a high-speed Prinoth Bison cat with a custom cab that takes you on 8-12 runs from 9am-4pm spanning Irwin's 1,000 acres of private property. The season will run until April 30th so call 1-866-IRWIN-77 for more details and have some safe fun in the backcountry.

And don't for get about the Citizen's Race this Saturday. This 20K Classic Race will start at the Crested Butte Nordic Center and is a great opportunity to meet some new friends and go for a ski. If your not interested in racing, stop by the Nordic Center and sign up for a introductory group lesson for only $27, or a private lesson for $35, pass included. Or grab up an adult pass for only $16 and explore the many ski trails on your own.

There is more snow on the way this weekend so get out your skis and shovel and prepare to have some fun in the white stuff!
