Announcements
Good morning friends, family and guests to Crested Butte. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty and it is Friday, March 18, 2011! We are hoping that everyone has recovered from St. Patrick's Day, because it's another powder day in Crested Butte! Enjoy 4 inches of new snow on the mountain, bringing our season snow total to 320 inches. The conditions are superb on the mountain right now- super soft snow and 100% of terrain open. With 1167 acres of terrain and 105 trails to choose from, you have plenty to explore around Crested Butte Mountain.

Visitors are always asking locals trivia about our mountain, so here are a few stats to fill in the gaps. The elevation of Crested Butte Mountain is 12,162 feet. Our mountain is unique in that we have 2,775 feet of lift served terrain and it is another 300 feet or so to the peak. The longest run on the mountain, from the Peak to Treasury, is a whopping 2.6 miles long, so if you're looking for a little leg burn, help yourself. Don't forget to ask the friendly guest services representatives any and all questions you have regarding where to go and what to do on the mountain and in town. You can't miss them at the base area in their bright yellow vests!

This weekend marks the 15th Annual Extreme Telemark Freeskiing Championships. Over 100 free-heelers take to the slopes to compete in this Telemark freeskiing event complete with welcome reception and awards party. The two-day big mountain event attracts the biggest names in the telemark industry and is unique to Crested Butte. Free telemark demos and specialty clinics also take place during this Telemark celebration. It is always a good show when the knee droppers take center stage. For more information, go to skicb.com and click on Things To Do. You'll the schedule for this weekend's event as well as more information on the infamous Al Johnson Uphill Downhill Ski Race.

It's already shaping up to be a great weekend on the hill. Have a great working man's holiday!
