Announcements
Good morning skiers and riders! This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. You'll be thrilled to know that we received 3 inches of snow in the last 24 hours, and with partly cloudy skies right now, we are still getting some of that good winter white stuff. In the last 48 hours, we've had 7 inches of snow and in just the last 7 days, we've gotten 11 inches of new snow. This means powder and packed powder conditions on the mountain and a natural snow base of 78 inches at the top and 60 inches at midway.

Today skiers and riders will be taking 15 lifts up the mountain to find 1167 acres of accessible terrain. You've got a total of 105 trails to choose from, including 74 groomed trails and the Groomer's Choice, International. This trail gives you a great view of the entire valley and fulfills your need for speed. If you're in town this week, then here's some good news. Although we may see some sunny skies later on today, you can expect the snow to pile up all week long and into the weekend. There's nothing better than new snow towards the end of the season, and in Crested Butte, that's what you're going to get!

It's a big weekend in Crested Butte, with the Grand Traverse kicking things off on Friday night and the "OAR festEvol" happening on Saturday. The Elk Mountain Grand Traverse is now in its 14th year, and is a great tribute to early mail carriers between Crested Butte and Aspen and a minimal-impact method of travel. The course is 40 miles long and ventures over two mountain passes and finishes at the base of the Aspen. The athletes who participate in this race are uber-fit and determined to make it to Aspen safely and quickly. Things are kicked off at midnight at the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort- be there to cheer on this fine group of people.

We've been talking all year long about an event coming up this weekend called the O.A.R. FestEvol. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is teaming up with Nordica, Reverb and the Bud Light Concert Series in an inaugural event that combines great music with green living. Local, regional and national environmental non-profit groups will intermingle with alternative energy and transportation exhibits as well as natural and organic food sampling and ski or snowboard equipment demos. Tickets to the concert are only $25, and lodging and lift ticket packages can be purchased online or by calling Crested Butte Vacations at 1.800.810.7669.

Goodness gracious. That's all from me today, folks. Have a great day and I'll see you on the hill.
