Good morning Crested Butte skiers and riders. Well, the Super Bowl may have been 11 days ago, but our NFL season starts today! On this 16th day in February, I am happy to report The North Face Lift (NFL) will be spinning first thing this morning, giving you access to an additional 11 trails, spread across Crested Butte Mountain Resort's extreme terrain! (Just a reminder, it is a good idea to utilize full backcountry gear in the extreme areas of the mountain (beacons, shovel, packs, etc.) and always ski with a partner.) Not only are there more terrain openings, but let's not forget about the 16 inches of snow the mountain has received since Sunday, which has created a powder packed 53 inch DEEPendable base! Snow remains in the forecast for the rest of the day, with temperatures reaching the lower 30's today. No matter which of the 14 lifts you decide to take a ride on, you're sure to have many options from the top, as 98% of the mountain is open, including 100% of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain, as well as 58% of the extremes. In other words, 93 trails are open, spread across 1,082 skiable acres. The diligent groomers have created Colorado's best corduroy on 69 of those slopes and recommend Crystal as their groomer's choice. On top of phenomenal shreddable acres open, 3 terrain parks have jumps and features, plus the only super pipe in southwestern Colorado, suitable for any level of jibber. Today's as good a day as any to try something new...how about a new ski perhaps?
