A lovely Thursday morning, skiers and riders of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. I hope you're ready to soak up the sun on this 29th day in March of 2012, because temperatures are expected to reach the mid 50's today with Colorado's infamous sun shining brightly. If you're in for some phenomenal spring skiing, Crested Butte Mountain is the place to be as 14 lifts will be open and running today, with both the High Lift and North Face Lift opening at 11:00 am. As an added bonus, Teocalli Lift will start spinning at 3:30 pm, giving you a little extra fun in the sun! A whopping 94% of the mountain is open today, including 96% of beginner and intermediate terrain, 91% of advanced terrain and 50% of the extremes. Over 1000 acres of skiable terrain is open, 330 of which have been groomed; in other words, 91 trails are shreddable, 62 of which are covered with Colorado's best corduroy. This is truly spring skiing at its finest. With such beautiful weather, why not end your day with a leisurely stroll through the galleries of Crested Butte, for an Art Walk through Crested Butte. Tonight, beginning at 5:00 pm, you can experience the diverse artistic expressions of local artisans and be inspired by these special ArtWalk Evenings. You can be inspired a whole new way this evening by heading back up to the mountain for the Elk Mountain Grand Traverse Events happening throughout the entire day. With the day starting with Event Expo beginning at 10:00 am and lasting to 7:30 pm at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square. In addition, you can spend an afternoon with the pro's for Dynafit's "Skin with the Pros" from 4:30-6:00 pm. Then end the evening with a film festival from 7:30-9:00pm. The day has plenty of exciting events going on, but don't worry, you don't have to do the entire 42 mile trek to Aspen to enjoy it!
