Steps Towards Sustainable Living

October 10 - 12

Steps Towards Sustainable Living class is offered through WSC’s Extended Studies department. Students will explore how to live with less impact on the Earth. They will spend the weekend in the yurt at Round Mountain Organics and have many opportunities for hands-on experiential learning.

Steps Toward Sustainable Living covers many aspects of life and how students can live more sustainably on the Earth. Students experience firsthand how to live off the grid, with all their electricity coming from solar photovoltaic panels and a wind generator, and become conscious of how their actions impact the planet. Building techniques, using natural plaster on straw bale buildings, are taught. Participants also learn how to grow food with ecologically sound methods and gain an understanding of solar-thermal heating systems.
