Crested Butte Mountain Biking: Lupine Trail: easier intermediate ride

Information & Conditions: Lupine Trail: easier intermediate ride

Updated 5/23/16

Status: Good to Go!

Current Conditions: Including Gunsight Connector - all are riding well. One snow spot in the dark timber section of Gunsight, please stay on trail!

Detailed Description:

The Lupine Trail is a new edition of singletrack in the north end of the valley, utilizing property purchased by the town of Crested Butte in cooperation with negotiated easements for travel through the private properties that are on either side.

Ride it from the Saddle Ridge (Absolutely no parking!!) subdivision cul-de-sac off Gothic Road or access it from 2 1/2 miles out the Slate River Road, for the entire Lupine, upper and lower. Best from Saddle Ridge, but either way is great riding. For a longer ride, start the trail from north to south ending in Saddle Ridge (Once the Lower Loop is dry you can ride this first, then roll down the road to Nicholson Lake to the trail's start.) From Saddle Ridge, ride up the highway a short distance to the bike path and continue up to to the Upper Loop and its many offerings.
