Special Announcements
Don't miss the Torchlight Parade this evening around dusk. This annual Christmas Eve tradition is put on by Crested Butte's very talented Ski School. Let me let you in on my secret- this will be my 6th consecutive year watching the torchlight parade from the deck of Butte 66 and I guarantee you that I will still get butterflies in my stomach as tiny lights appear at the top of the Silver Queen and then gracefully zig zag their way to the base area. This is a magical thing to see in the Butte, especially if those kiddos are gearing up for the big day tomorrow.

Are all the stockings hung by the chimney with care?

Are the children nestled all snug in their beds?

Well, wake them up. The snow is here and the slopes are ready...let the Butteness begin!

This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Friday, December 24, 2010. Mother Nature has already given us our gift for the holiday...a gigantic snow storm that resulted in 56 inches of snow in just the last seven days. All told, we've gotten 169 inches of snow so far this season and we've got powder and packed powder conditions on a 65 inch base. With 13 lifts spinning, including 4 high-speed quads, you'll be making laps on 82 trails spread out over 615 acres of terrain. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is hopping with vacationing locals and guests...you will definitely feel the spirit of the holidays as you cruise the Groomer's Choice today, Treasury.

If you're not quite sure how to navigate some of our terrain, consider yourself lucky because our Ski and Ride School is top of the line. Join a group class or get some one-on-one time with one of our expert instructors by stopping by the Axtel Building just behind the Silver Queen Lift or call the Ski School toll free at 1-800-444-9236. We'll be able to hook you up with a half or full-day session that will quickly ensure that you enjoy skiing and riding on the hill and avoid frustraion or pesky injuries.

Looking for a place to gather your group for lunch but don't want to stray too far from the mountain? How about a pizza pie from SPELLBOUND PIZZA Company? Make your way to the third level of the Treasury Building and saddle up with your buds for a quick and relaxing lunch. (Don't worry there's an elevator for all of you who avoid stairs with your ski boots on!) Paradise Warming House is another great on-mountain lunch spot that can easily accomodate a large family or church group. Cafeteria-style dining makes it easy for everyone to get what they want and with a couple of registers and a great Warming House staff, your lunch in Paradise will get you back out on the hill in a jiffy.

Well, that's all from me today, folks. Come enjoy the Butteness if you're not already here. I'll see you on the hill.
