There are two events going on tonight in Crested Butte, just in case you needed another excuse to visit our downtown shops, restaurants and bars. Celebrate the 25th year anniversary of the Center for the Arts with caroling, tasty holiday food and drinks, entertainment from Mead Metcalf, the Crested Butte Dance Collective and the UCC Bell Choir and much more! Good morning my people. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Thursday, December 22, 2011. You'll be happy to learn that today we are getting the Gold Link Lift up and running, adding the following runs to our open terrain: Home Owners, North Pass, Panions, and Elko Park. We will also be opening the Painter Boy Park, as well as the Nastar course on Lower Canaan. Head over to Lower Canaan and challenge your friends to a couple of spins on the Nastar race course! All of these additions mean that 64% of our terrain is now open including 84% of our Beginner and Intermediate terrain and 51% of our Advanced Terrain. Get out to ski and ride a total of 407 acres on 55 trails, including 236 groomed acres on 29 trails. Our Groomer's Choice for today is probably one of your favorites…International. As for weather, here is the "down low." We have not yet received any snow from this current snow event, however, there is a 70% chance of precipitation today and we can expect between 2-4 inches to fall. This front has moved in some cooler temps, and the high today will be 14 degrees. We could also see the wind pick up today, so be sure to bundle up and bring along a face mask.
