Special Announcements
Consider heading to town this morning to watch Crested Butte's signature Nordic event, the Alley Loop, which is also one of our best costume parties. The Alley Loop’s unique course starts and finishes in the heart of downtown Crested Butte, and in between it meanders through snow-lined alleys, behind false-fronted stores and restaurants, over footbridges and alongside residences. Events begin at 9:15 this morning, and details can be found at cbnordic.org.

It's the weekend, and the living is easy. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Today skiers and riders can take their pick from a total of 86 trails spread out over 770 acres. 13 lifts are open to quickly get you up and around the mountain, and our Groomers have been out there all night creating Colorado's Best Corduroy on 63 trails, including their Groomer's Choice for today, Black Eagle. The only Superpipe in the Southwest is open and freshly cut for the weekend and you're going to find super smooth, packed powder conditions everywhere you go today. Forecasters are calling for snow flurries today through Monday, so expect to see some white stuff fall from partly sunny skies.

If it is something unique to Crested Butte that you're looking for, then the Snowcat Driving Experience is the golden ticket. Participants learn the basics of driving snowcats, grooming, pushing snow, and experience one of the best ski resort jobs on a closed course. The school incorporates initial classroom time for safety and operational instruction then students get out on the course to maximize the driving time. To book your Snowcat Driving Experience call 970.349.4554 or visit the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square.

If you're already in Crested Butte, then you've probably seen the adventure to be had at the base area. With the Base Area Adventure Package, you can take our two hour zipline tour, AND get all day access to the super-sized mini golf course, the gravity-defying bungee trampolines, the 28-foot climbing wall and our epic, three-lane, lift served tubing hill. For $65, you'll be saving 25% and get a full day of adventure on the mountain. Call 970.349.2211 for more details on the Base Area Adventure Package.

I'm off to enjoy the workingman's holiday on the mountain. I'll see you on the hill.
