The Rock on Ice team returns to Mt. Crested Butte for an ice carving festival in celebration of the holiday season. Be amazed as two of the world’s most renowned carvers create larger than life sized sculptures of animals, holiday characters and other iconic figures out of blocks of ice. The event will feature ice carving demonstrations, interactive sculptures  perfect for family photos, and a dazzling ice sculpture garden in the outdoor courtyard at Mountaineer Square through tomorrow. However, the ice sculptures stick around through the winter until they melt. ?After a day on the slopes, stop by the WoodStone Grille to try their new alpine menu featuring custom stone oven pizza, pasta and signature grill items. Also, play some billiards on their new open  table! Open daily for breakfast, après and dinner. Free lift ticket when you fly Alaska Airlines from LAX to GUC (Gunnison) during your stay 12/16/15 -03/26/16. Ski FREE at Crested Butte Mountain Resort the day you depart from Gunnison (GUC) with your Alaska Airlines Boarding Pass (departure times are late afternoon allowing time for a free day of skiing). Present your same-day of departure Alaska Airlines boarding pass with a matching photo ID at the Adventure Center ticket office located in Mountaineer Square to receive a complimentary lift ticket valid on day of departure. Make sure to do a jig down all 63 trails today, as we welcome in some clouds later this afternoon that are in front of another system that will bring us more POWDER starting Sunday! You’ll find spectacular views between runs today on any one of the 13 lifts that are cranking their wheels to offer up 455 acres of stellar terrain. There are thrills for most all skill levels as 78% of our magnificent mountain is now shredable, with 63% open for beginners, 72% for those intermediate folks, and 77% of territory is out there for the more daring advance riders. Word from the groomers is that Lower Forest Queen is the place to be for the smoothest turns on the hill today!
