Announcements |
Good morning ski bunnies and powder hounds. This is Colorado's very own Snow Betty with the snow report for Crested Butte Mountain Resort on Sunday, March 18, 2012. Strap on those boards and click into your skies…you're looking at another day of memorable skiing and riding in the Butte. Our open terrain includes 97 trails on 1085 acres, including 60 groomed trails and the Groomer's Choice for today, Poverty Gulch. The trail name, Poverty Gulch is named for the road in Crested Butte that leads to the abandoned Augusta Silver Mine, and is one of many trails named after historic mines in the Crested Butte area. We've got a total of 15 lifts running this weekend, each with a different view of the Gunnison Valley that we call home. Forecasters are calling for a 70% chance of snow showers today, so get those kids out early and teach them the snow dance.
Following up yesterday's superb music event with the Pete Kilpatrick Band and the Barenaked Ladies, is an entire day of rocking music on the mountain. The FestEvol gates open at 1 PM today, and Zack Heckendorf will be leading things off around 1:30 PM. Guster will be be performing from 2:15- 4PM; this group of three are known for their singles “Amsterdam”, “Satellite”, and their recently released, “Do You Love Me?” Big Head Todd and the Monsters, straight out of Colorado with 16 years under their collective belt, will be headlining today's event from 4:30-6:15 PM. If yesterday was any sign of what's to come today, you can expect some funky dancing, lots of smiling and genuine Crested Butte music magic at the base area.
There are only five more days to purchase the Colorado 3 for All Pass, which gives you 3 days of skiing or riding between March 23 and April 8, and November 21 through December 20, 2012. For $177, you can enjoy three days in the Butte this season or next season. If you decide to ski or ride more during the current winter season, just recharge your pass. Seize this perfect end of season opportunity and plan to ski the Butte two winters in a row. You can purchase the Colorado 3 for All Pass by going to skicb.com/3forall.
After a cup of Joe and the sunrise, I'll be heading up to the ski area for another big day of skiing and FestEvol entertainment. I'll see you on "the hill!"
