Today is the annual Al Johnson Uphill/Downhill Telemark Race. THE costume event of the year in Crested Butte is as much fun to watch as it is to participate. In tribute to a rugged 19th century mailman, competitors in wacky costumes telemark climb 600 vertical feet, then descend 1200 feet down double-black diamond steeps today. Prizes for best times, best costumes, and best fall. The race can be tag-team, individual, or enjoyed as a spectator both at the start and finish. Come partake in this Crested Butte tradition!
