With well over 200 inches of snowfall this season the mountain is open from wall to wall, from the West Side all the way to Third Bowl, bringing you 105 trails, thats 1167 acres of open terrain and 420 groomed acres for riders of all levels to have a blast! For all those kiddies out there, visiting or local, stop by the Trailhead Museum located in the Outpost Building at the base area. The Trailhead has hands on art and science stations among its toys and puppets for all ages. There are special programs each week so call 970-349-7160 and head over for some indoor fun. Snowcat skiing is back at Irwin, located 12 miles from the town of Crested Butte. CS Irwin operates two custom snowcats to transport 10 guests a day in comfort and style, being picked up and dropped off in the same day right in town. Upon reaching the restored Movie Cabin in Irwin guests transfer to a high-speed Prinoth Bison cat with a custom cab that takes you on 8-12 runs from 9am-4pm spanning Irwin's 1,000 acres of private property.The season will run until April 30th so call 1-866-IRWIN-77 for more details and have some safe fun in the backcountry. A Theatrical Celebration of Food presented by the Gunnison Arts Center is tonight, beginning at 7pm, doors open at 6pm. This presentation will bring together local chefs, restaurant-lovers and playwrights for a lively competition and collaboration of artistic culinary skills and original one-act plays. Kick up your heels with Tyler Hensen at the Princess Wine Bar at 8pm then head across the street to boogie down with DJ Brian Turpyn spinning music of Dr. Dre at the Eldo, starting at 10:30pm. Lots of fun things to do today and tonight! Get out and play! To get to all the open terrain, take your pick on any of the thirteen lifts that are open, leading you to 105 thrilling trails and spread throughout 1167 skiable acres. While 420 of those acres have been groomed there are still plenty of powder stashes around the mountain.
